Rebloging because it does make sense. Still I think that Prussia more naturaly became known as Prussia trough the time (even though he take over) than rather him destroying the original Prussia representative. Still I like the idea.:)

In a way he is more linked to the people than to the land. And maybe thats why he is such the special nation his is now. Like since he is not that much linked to the land and more to the people he “miss” some balance that nature could give him….

I agree with the “more attached to his people” thing. I’ve always considered him a man of his own will. He doesn’t depend on the government at all as opposed to someone like…say Russia who I see STRICTLY adherent to his government ( which is why his personality changes so drastically most times )

The actual way Prussia became knows as Prussia is still confusing. Old Prussia, the state the Teutonic Knights conquered in the Baltics, was essentially morphed into the “Monastic State of the Teutonic Knights”

And then somehow our dear Pru went from that to a Duchy under Poland. o___o

It could be he took the name “Prussia” to sort of honour the original. But…I dunno. That little time gap between the two states just utterly blows my mind. @A@

And I guess at the time our Gilbert morphed into a new country he must have some change in his personality. Not that he would have became someone else, but (for example) would have became more calm and maybe have acted in a way he wouldn’t have when he was just teutonic knight.

That and the fact that once he became a country with an actual land he must have feel differently too. (even though he would have still keep his stronger connections to the people.)

And for the name Prussia, I feel like he might have adopt it as his own when people became to call him that “making” him Prussia.
